Revolutionary Rumble Logo Design Contest Announced

The Williamsburg Volleyball Club is once again sponsoring a contest to create or design a logo for the 8th annual Revolutionary Rumble to put on T shirts, awards, programs or other potential items for sale or promotion. Our past winners and contestants have come up with great entries and this is your chance to continue the tradition. Your submission can be a sketch, drawing, artwork, computer generated design or a written conceptualization. We are looking for something that captures the spirit of the "Rumble" and that is appealing visually or conceptually. Much of the success of the T-Shirt sales comes from the "POP" of the design. The winning submission doesn't have to be professional; but the more clearly you can portray or describe your idea, concept or design, the better it may translate to the judges. But even if you can't draw a lick and the concept is great, the screen print artists can interpret, enhance, or embellish it to look professional. Only one design per person may be submitted. Preliminary judging will select 6 finalists among the designs and each finalist will receive a 2010 Rumble T-shirt with the winning logo. The winning submission will be selected from the final 6. The judging format is still up in the air, but if we can set it up on the website, Club members might be able to vote to at least determine the 6 finalists.

The deadline to enter the contest is Friday. February 26, 2010. Judging will take place shortly thereafter. Submit your entry to Lewis Edwards at Quarterpath Gym, 202 Quarterpath Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185. You can also scan and email your entry to ledwards@williamsburgvolleyball.com.

GOOD LUCK! WVC Board

WVC Coach Lindsey Pflugner Named All-American

William and Mary senior and WVC 14 Red coach Lindsey Pflugner recently picked up several awards over the holidays after an outstanding 2009 campaign, none larger than becoming the Tribe's first-ever volleyball All-American. She was named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) to the Honorable Mention List, a first in the history of the College.

Pflugner earned the accolade after leading the CAA and ranking 17th nationally with 5.26 digs per set in 2009. The CAA Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection, she totaled 552 digs this season in leading the Tribe to an 18-11 record, the second-highest total in school history, and her average is third-most ever at W&M. Despite serving as a libero for only two years, Pflugner finished her career second in both total digs (1,354) and average (3.6 per set) all-time at the College. She was also named honorable-mention All-East by the AVCA early in December.

Congratulations Coach Pflugner!
