Williamsburg Volleyball Club is pleased to host Matt Sonnichsen, volleyball expert and speaker with NCSA, on Thursday, December 10th in the Jamestown High School Gym. Sonnichsen will be talking with WVC players and their families about the College Recruiting process. You only get to go through the recruiting process one time. The early club season presents the chance for junior volleyball players to make a positive initial impression on college coaches. Are you prepared to find the perfect college program? Do you think college coaches are interested in you, or do you know they are? Sonnichsen will walk you through the steps involved with regards to College Recruiting.

Meet Matt Sonnichsen: Success on the volleyball court as both a player and coach makes Matt Sonnichsen a valuable asset to NCSA. The Texas native was a four-year letter winning setter for UCLA where he earned three All-America honors and helped lead the Bruins to NCAA championships in 1987 and 1989. Sonnichsen was named the MVP of the 1989 national championship. He competed professionally before beginning his coaching career. Sonnichsen’s extensive coaching resume includes head coaching stints at Iowa, Tulsa, Newberry College, and most recently, Louisiana Tech. He served as an assistant coach at Clemson, Iowa and UC Santa Barbara.  “What drew me (to NCSA) is their philosophy of education and empowerment,” said Sonnichsen. “As an NCAA coach I could impact 12 to 15 athletes. As the volleyball expert and speaker for NCSA, I can positively impact thousands of volleyball families across the USA.”
